HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — It looks like it's going to be an exciting ride into the sunset for The Hills.
On Tuesday, MTV premiered a trailer for the show's final season and it teased some pretty hot topics, including Heidi Montag's plastic surgery and Kristin Cavallari's rumored drug use.
The trailer opens with scenes from the first season of the show, featuring original star Lauren Conrad and the gang.
LOS ANGELES — After six seasons filled with relationship drama, catfights and sex-tape accusations, MTV's The Hills is headed for the sunset.
The reality series will end at the conclusion of its forthcoming season, American Superstar has confirmed.
"I think we've told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A.," show creator Adam DiVello told Entertainment Weekly.
The Laguna Beach spinoff has been a launching pad for the careers of Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge and Heidi Montag, among others. "A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths," admitted DiVello.
So what can fans expect when the final 12 episodes begin airing on April 27? For starters, the opener will feature Montag revealing her now famous plastic surgery to her family for the first time.
"It's a really touching but heartbreaking scene to watch," executive producer Liz Gateley said.
Fans will also see Patridge dating singer Ryan Cabrera and Kristin Cavallari dealing with rumors of drug abuse. When asked about chatter that Spencer Pratt has been removed from the show, DiVello said they'll be plenty of Heidi and Spencer drama before the run ends.
"Spencer is dealing with some stuff right now, and once he gets through that, we'll be back to shooting with Spencer again," he told EW. "Bottom line is you will see him. He'll be in most of the episodes."
So will Pratt's favorite nemesis return for a swan song? DiVello wouldn't say if Conrad will be back for sure, but he did promise a satisfying conclusion. Just don't holdout for a wedding finale.
Said DiVello: "I always joked it would be nice to see Lauren get married."
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Reality star Stephanie Pratt was formally charged Wednesday for driving under the influence (DUI), stemming from her arrest earlier this month in Hollywood.
The 23-year-old Hills star was just over the 0.8 legal limit for California after a second breath test registered at 0.9, according to TMZ.com.
LOS ANGELES — Audrina Patridge is the latest castmember of "The Hills" seeking a change of scenery.
The 24-year-old TV personality said she plans to leave the hit MTV series so she can focus on her acting career.
"I'm almost done with 'The Hills.' We're in the middle of finishing these episodes, and I'll be leaving then," she told reporters at Sunday's press junket for her new thriller film "Sorority Row."
Patridge said the move is a long time coming and feels like a natural progression in her career.
"It feels like I'm graduating," she said. "I'm taking the next step and growing up and maturing and moving on in my life."
"I moved to Los Angeles to be an actress, and before I got onto 'The Hills,' I was going to auditions and castings and working full-time at [film studios] Quixote Studios and Smashbox."
Patridge said her experience on the show has been beneficial to her acting aspirations.
"I feel like it’s helped me a lot going to auditions and sitting in front of the camera... blocking the camera out and just getting into character," she said.
Patridge is the second key member of the series to leave in recent time, following Lauren Conrad whose final episide aired in May.
The next season of "The Hills" premieres on Sept. 29.
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Kristin Cavallari is soaking up her return to reality TV as she prepares to shake things up on "The Hills."
It's been a lot of fun," the 22-year-old star tells Access Hollywood. "It's been a little crazy, but it's been great."
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Heid Montag is about to give fans of "The Hills" quite the show.
The reality TV star will appear in an upcoming issue of Playboy, a source confirmed Thursday to Access Hollywood.
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The drama will continue on "The Hills," albeit without the show's star.
MTV has announced that season five of the reality series will continue in the fall with new episodes, with everyone returning but Lauren Conrad.
In announcing that Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Brody Jenner, Stephanie Pratt, Lo Bosworth and Justin Bobby would all be back, the network also teased that "fresh faces" would also be present.
"Spencer and Heidi will be newlyweds, so the stakes are higher than ever before for the two to make things work," read an MTV statement. "Viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before."
The 23-year-old Conrad confirmed last month that she was leaving the series for greener pastures.
"I've spent the last five years making every decision be about the show," she told Us Weekly. "People I date have to be able to film, the places I work have to let us film and the places I live have to have set lighting."
"I loved doing it and had so much fun, but it came to a point where I had done it long enough," she added.
Montag, who married Pratt on Saturday, previously said the hit show could survive despite losing Conrad.
"We don't need her," she told MTV. "We'll miss her. I just don't know if we need her."

PASADENA, Calif. — Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are officially husband and wife.
The reality TV couple tied the knot Saturday afternoon at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, Calif., an MTV rep confirmed to Access Hollywood.
"MTV wishes Heidi and Spencer the best and can't wait to share their wedding with 'The Hills' fans later this season," said the network spokesperson.
Montag, 22, and Pratt, 25, exchanged vows in front of 200 friends and family, including fellow "Hills" stars Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner and Stephanie Montag.
Many had speculated whether on-again, off-again friend Conrad would attend the ceremony. As it turned out, she not only attended, but ended up catching the wedding bouquet, Access reported.
"You're next!" shouted Montag after the catch.
Prior to the ceremony, an airplane soared overhead and wrote "Spencer loves Heidi" in the sky.
As she prepared for her big day, Montag managed to keep her fans updated by posting several messages on Twitter, including "This is going to be the best day of my life." She also wrote "Thank you God for Spencer" and described her wedding dress as "amazing – like a swan princess."
On Friday night, approximately 40 guests joined the couple in Beverly Hills for the rehearsal dinner at the Wolfgang Puck restaurant Cut.
Saturday's affair was the second wedding for the pair, who eloped last November at the One & Only Palmilla Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
