HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Creed is hoping to recapture some of its old magic.
The rockers, who have been on a six-year hiatus, are reuniting for a new album and concert tour, which will kick off Aug. 6 in Pittsburgh.
"We never felt like we weren't together," frontman Scott Stapp told People. "We're not looking at this as a reunion. It's more of a rebirth."
The Florida-based group, which also includes Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall, has already started recording a new album, which is tentatively titled, "Full Circle." The band's last studio album, "Weathered," was released 2001 and sold more than six million copies.
"We're not trying to stay in a certain place or conform to where we left off," Stapp told the mag. "The music is fresh, edgy, raw, passionate, honest and it rocks."
Creed arrived on the scene in a big way with the 1997 release of their debut album, "My Own Prison," which featured such hit tracks as "My Own Prison," "Torn" and "One."
They achieved even greater success two years later with the follow-up, "Human Clay," which spawned the hit songs "Higher" and "With Arms Wide Open."
Creed was last seen on the concert tour circuit in 2002, but Ken Fermaglich of the Agency Group, which handle's the band's booking, believes fans will be lining up for tickets.
"I think there is a lot of demand out there for this band, they've been away for seven years," he told Billboard.
