HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Coldplay is in tune with the recession.
The British rockers will be giving away a live CD "as a recession-busting mark of gratitude to everyone who's supported them," the band announced Friday on their Web site.
Starting with the group's May 15 show in West Palm Beach, Fla., Coldplay will give everyone attending concerts on their North American "Viva la Vida" summer tour a free copy of their nine-track album, "LeftRightLeftRightLeft." The offer is good for every remaining concert date in 2009, outside of their festival appearances.
The live album will also be made available on May 15 as a free download on the band's Web site.
"LeftRightLeftRightLeft" was recorded over the past year in various cities around the world on the "Viva La Vida" tour.
"Playing live is what we love. This album is a thank you to our fans – the people who give us a reason to do it and make it happen," Coldplay said in a statement.
