LOS ANGELES — After months of speculation, Fall Out Boy has finally confirmed that they are no longer making sweet music together.
"I'm not in Fall Out Boy right now," the band's frontman, Patrick Stump, revealed in an interview Tuesday with Spin magazine. "But one way or another, the band will always be around. Steven Tyler isn't in Aerosmith anymore, but his gravestone will probably say something about Aerosmith. Whether we play again or not, I don't know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don't, it will also be for the right reasons."
Stump was responding after bassist Pete Wentz spoke about the band's breakup Monday night on Twitter.
"A hiatus is forever until you get lonely or old. I don't plan on either," wrote Wentz. "I can't imagine playing in FOB again."
Wentz responded further to the news Tuesday on his blog, writing: "i dont know the future of fall out boy. its embarrassing to say one thing and then have the future dictate another. as far as i know fall out boy is on break. (no one wants to say the 'h' word). as much as i dont have a solo project, i also cant predict that id ever play in fall out boy again. not due to personal relationships as much as a band we grew apart. in this statement id like to include there is the possibility that fob will play again with out me or i will be a part of it when everyone is on the same page. it is no ones fault and there is no animosity about the decision. i felt as fans you deserve to know. there is no singular reason for this. the side projects or bands are supported by all members of the band. i am the single biggest fan of fob and if this is our legacy than so be it. i am proud of it."
Stump, who is currently working on a solo album, doesn't seem overly concerned about getting the gang back together anytime soon.
"I'm really not worried about Fall Out Boy," he told Spin. "I'm so psyched about where I'm at right now."
Fall Out Boy, which also includes guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley, was last seen together during a lengthy U.S. tour in which they opened for Blink-182.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Pete Wentz knows there must have been a lot of shaking heads once the name of his first child with wife Ashlee Simpson hit the tabloids.
Appearing Tuesday on Ryan Seacrest's KISS-FM radio show, the 29-year-old Wentz explained the couple's decision to name their son Bronx Mowgli.

Simpson gave birth to the couple's first child, a baby boy, on Thursday night, according to People.
The couple's son, named Bronx Mowgli Wentz, weighed in at 7 lbs., 11 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long, the magazine reports.
"Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes!" a rep for the pair tells the mag.
Simpson reportedly went to the hospital on Sunday, but it turned out to be a "false alarm."
On Tuesday, Simpson's older sister, Jessica, said the birth was coming soon while appearing on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
"They're going to have to [induce labor], it's already developing really quick," she told DeGeneres.
The Fall Out Boy rocker, meanwhile, skipped out on recent scheduled appearances on "Larry King Live" and "Total Request Live" as the baby's arrival appeared imminent.
After weeks of speculation, Simpson, 24, confirmed her pregnancy in late May, shortly after she and Wentz, 29, tied the knot. The couple's wedding took place in the backyard of her parents' home in Encino, Calif. and was officiated by her father.
In August, Simpson told ET Canada that she was getting plenty of help as she prepared to become a mother for the first time.
"My mom and my grandmother [have] given me good motherly advice, but it's one of those things where your mother instincts kind of kick in right away," she said.
