HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Pete Wentz knows there must have been a lot of shaking heads once the name of his first child with wife Ashlee Simpson hit the tabloids.
Appearing Tuesday on Ryan Seacrest's KISS-FM radio show, the 29-year-old Wentz explained the couple's decision to name their son Bronx Mowgli.
"The Jungle Book was something that me and Ashlee bonded over," the Fall Out Boy star explained of the name Mowgli from the Disney classic. "It's a cool name."
As for their son's first name, Wentz was a little less forthcoming.
"We came up with the idea Bronx. We've been throwing [ideas] back and forth a while," he told the host. "It's kind of cool to just leave the narrative what it is. People are stoked or pissed or whatever. And you're like, you know what: I don't think anyone really has the real story."
Since Wentz has a history of pranks, Seacrest then questioned if there was a possible joke being played with the media.
"No, no, no, it definitely is his name, but I don't think anybody knows what the real story is of why or how," he said.
Wentz and Simpson welcomed their son last Thursday and the bassist said his wife was the bigger rock when it came time to deliver.
"Right before she went into labor, I was like, 'Oh, my god, I think I'm having a heart attack,' " he explained. "My heart started beating real fast. You see your wife is in all this pain. And I don't know what's happening right now. She took care of me and made sure I was okay and then went into labor. That's why she's a saint."
