HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ashlee Simpson says she's been getting plenty of help when it comes to preparing for motherhood for the first time.
"My mom and my grandmother [have] given me good motherly advice, but it's one of those things where your mother instincts kind of kick in right away," the 23-year-old singer tells ET Canada.
After weeks of speculation, Simpson confirmed her pregnancy in late May, shortly after she walked down the aisle with husband Pete Wentz. The wedding took place in the backyard of her parents' home in Encino, Calif. and was officiated by her father. Simpson says her 29-year-old musical hubby has been a big help with preparations as well.
"We're getting the nursery ready," she told the show. "I can't wait to be a mom and he can't wait to be a dad, so it's fun."
"I have the greatest husband," she added. "He's so awesome. It's fun to have somebody that I love to do this with."
Simpson says the pair still has one major item left on their to-do list, which is pick out a name for their upcoming arrival. But the "Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya)" singer says that will have to wait.
"I don't think it's something we'll decide until the baby comes," she said.
