NEW YORK — Jennifer Love Hewitt is taking advantage of her recent split from Jamie Kennedy, admitting that it's "really nice" to have some of her freedom back.
"You definitely get more time with your girlfriends," the 31-year-old actress told People at Tuesday's grand opening of Esprit's flagship store in New York. "You get more time to do things around your house. And just to relax and get your nails done and watch TV and have a good glass of wine. It's great."
The breakup arrived just ahead of Hewitt's new book, The Day I Shot Cupid: Hello, My Name Is Jennifer Love Hewitt and I'm a Love-aholic, which hit bookshelves Tuesday. So what does the Ghost Whisperer star know about dating?
"You can pretty much figure out on the first 10 dates who the guy is going to be seven months later," she explained. "And we as girls tend to romanticize men right away, and say, 'No, no, no, he didn't mean that.' Or, 'That thing that he did, it kind of bothered me, but it will change.' "
[But] it doesn't change," Hewitt added, laughing. "You have to find somebody just who works and gels with you and that's all you can do."
When it comes to capturing her own heart, Hewitt admitted there's a rather odd way to win her over.
"I love office supplies," she said. "I love being organized. It's the folders and the tech … [Staples] is a place to take me if you want me to get hot and bothered."
