INDIO, Calif. — Paul McCartney, The Killers and The Cure will be the top headliners at the 2009 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, organizers announced Friday.
McCartney, who will be making his first-ever U.S. festival appearance, will headline the opening day of the event on Friday, April 17.
"I have heard that Coachella is one of the greatest festivals in the world. I'm really excited to get out there and rock! said the former Beatle in a statement.
Morrissey, Franz Ferdinand and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Leonard Cohen will be among the artists joining McCartney on the opening day of the festival.
The Killers will top the lineup on Saturday, where they will be joined by such acts as Amy Winehouse, Thievery Corporation and TV on the Radio.
Robert Smith and The Cure will headline the festival's final day, which will also feature performances by such artists as My Bloody Valentine and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
