Rihanna and Chris Brown Reportedly Back Together

By Chloe Bunker on February 28, 2009

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Rihanna and Chris Brown are reportedly back together.

According to People, the couple has reunited at a Miami Beach home belonging to Sean "Diddy" Combs, just weeks after Brown, 19, was arrested for allegedly assalting his fellow R&B star girlfriend.

"They're together again. They care for each other," a source told the mag, who added that Brown is "really happy to be with the woman he loves."

The magazine says Brown called Rihanna last week to wish her a happy birthday when she turned 21.

"They've reached out to each other," said a source. "It's been mutual."

Brown was arrested on Feb. 8, the night of the Grammy Awards, for allegedly making criminal threats against Rihanna. He is currently free on $50,000 bail.

The "Kiss Kiss" singer has only spoken out once publicly since the incident, releasing a statement that expressed his remorse.

"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired," said Brown. "I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person."

Rihanna Thanks Fans in First Comments Since Alleged Chris Brown Assault

By Chloe Bunker on February 20, 2009

LOS ANGELES — In her first public comments since she was allegedly attacked by Chris Brown, Rihanna thanked her fans for their support but declined to discuss the accusations against her boyfriend, citing the ongoing police investigation.

"At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown," read the statement from her rep firm to The Associated Press. "She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time."

The statement was released on Rihanna's 21st birthday and hours after the celebrity Web site TMZ posted a graphic photo that appears to be of the R&B star after the alleged attack, with her eyes closed, a fat lip, and bruises and cuts on her forehead.

Shortly after the photograph was posted, the Los Angeles Police Department issued a statement saying that it "takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence." Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton told AP on Friday that his department has launched an internal investigation into the origin of the photo and how TMZ obtained it.

Brown, 19, was arrested on Feb. 8, the day both stars were scheduled to perform at the 51st Grammy Awards. He was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats and is currently free on $50,000 bail.

After the incident, Rihanna postponed concerts overseas and canceled a birthday bash planned for New York. Instead of celebrating her birthday on Friday, the singer found herself in the midst of public outcry over the graphic photo and its potential impact on abused women. Kim Gandy, the president of the National Organization for Women, told AP that the photo is a reminder about the dangers of abuse.

"The reality that domestic violence can happen to anyone, even someone with fame and celebrity, ought to bring home the point that this is a problem for our entire society," Gandy said. "We can't avoid or ignore it."

New Details Emerge in Chris Brown's Alleged Assault of Rihanna

By Chloe Bunker on February 10, 2009

LOS ANGELES — R&B star Rihanna is cooperating with investigators as they look to build a domestic violence case against her boyfriend, singer Chris Brown, a police source tells the Los Angeles Times.

Brown was arrested Sunday evening on suspicion of making criminal threats against Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

The couple had attended Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party on Saturday night before reportedly getting into an argument on the car ride home. They were sitting in Brown's rented Lamborghini in the city's Hancock Park neighborhood shortly after midnight when the alleged assault reportedly took place.

Brown is said to have "fled on foot" with the car keys in hand, leaving Rihanna behind to dial 911 for help, a source told E! News.

"Rihanna didn't want anyone to touch her, she was in so much pain," said the source.

A police source told the Los Angeles Times that Rihanna's injuries included "bruises and a scratch on her face."

She was later treated at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to published reports.

Brown, who is currently free on $50,000 bail, could see his career head into a tailspin if the case proceeds forward against him. On Monday, Wrigley temporarily suspended his Doublemint commercials.

"Wrigley is concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown. We believe Mr. Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen. However, we have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved," the company said in a statement.

Rihanna Postpones Malaysian Concert After Alleged Attack

By Chloe Bunker on February 9, 2009

LOS ANGELES — Rihanna has postponed a concert appearance in Malaysia this week after allegedly being injured by her boyfriend, Chris Brown, in a domestic assault early Sunday.

Rihanna's Los Angeles-based reps informed Malaysia's Pineapple Concerts that a show slated for Friday would have to be rescheduled to an unspecified date "in light of recent events involving Rihanna," Pineapple Concerts said in a statement to The Associated Press.

The postponed date is part of the pop star's ongoing "Good Girl Gone Bad" tour.

Brown, 19, and Rihanna, 20, attended a pre-Grammy party together Saturday night, but according to the Los Angeles Times, she was the victim in the singer's alleged attack against a woman the police have refused to identify.

According to police reports, Brown got into an argument with a woman as they sat in a parked car in the city's Hancock Park neighborhood shortly after midnight.

"After stopping his car, Brown and the woman got out and the argument escalated," the LAPD said in a statement. "The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker."

The LAPD received a 911 call reporting the disturbance. When officers arrived they found the victim, but Brown had already left the scene.

Brown later turned himself into authorities in the evening, where he was booked on suspicion of making a criminal threat.

Brown later posted a $50,000 bail and was released. He is due back in court on March 5.

Both Brown and Rihanna were scheduled to perform at Sunday's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, but each of them cancelled their appearances.
