Paris Hilton and Benji Madden Break Up
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Paris Hilton can add soulmate to her list while searching for a new BFF.
The heiress and her boyfriend of nine months, Benji Madden, reportedly split in the last two weeks, a source tells People.
"She is saddened by the breakup but they're just too different and they wanted different things in life," a Hilton insider tells the mag. "He was loyal and sweet but it was time to take a break."
Hilton, 27, and Madden, 29, have been nearly inseparable since they started dating earlier this year. The longtime friends turned into lovers after they began spending a lot of time together, thanks to Hilton's BFF, Nicole Richie, giving birth to a baby fathered by Madden's brother, Joel.
The couple's fallout comes just one month after Hilton gushed about Madden on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show."
"I think for the first time I’m in a really great relationship with a guy I really trust and treats me really well and who would never hurt me," Hilton told the talk-show host.
Some have speculated that infidelity may have played a factor in the pair's breakup. In fact, Hilton was photographed last week partying in Miami with ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos. However, the Hilton insider tells People there's nothing brewing between the "My New BFF" star and her former flame.
"In no way are they romantic, nor do they want to get back together," said the source.
