LOS ANGELES — Mariah Carey was the first performer at Michael Jackson's memorial service Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Wearing a black dress, the 39-year-old singer took the stage and began to sing "I'll Be There." Carey was soon joined by her longtime collaborator Trey Lorenz, who joined the pop diva in performing the Jackson 5 hit.
"I'll Be There," which was co-written by Motown founder Berry Gordy, was a No. 1 hit for the Jackson 5 in 1970.
