HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The wait is over for Linkin Park fans.
The Los Angeles alt-metal band has premiered their highly-anticipated new single "The Catalyst," off their forthcoming album, A Thousand Suns. The synth-rock jam debuted Sunday in the trailer for Medal of Honor, the Electronic Arts war video game created by famed director Steven Spielberg.
Linkin Park recently ran a remix contest called "Featuring You" where fans were given the stems from "The Catalyst" before they could hear what the full song sounded like. The winning remix by NoBrain, an English teacher in Poland, will appear on the band's new album.
"We were blown away by the quality of entries, and the excitement by artists and fans alike," Mike Shinoda wrote on Linkin Park's official site, adding that NoBrain "was freaking out" when he contacted him directly via Skype. "We intend to do some special things with many of our favorite entries in the future."
Fellow frontman Chester Bennington recently told Rolling Stone that the band feels invigorated after taking some time off to pursue personal projects.
"At this point we're writing such great music that I almost want to go do 50 shows around the world and then get right back into making another record," said Bennington. "Once the ball starts rolling, it's all I want. It's like a drug."
A Thousand Suns drops on Sept. 14.
