HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — While the circumstances are less than ideal, Kelis and Nas are now proud parents to a baby boy named Knight.
The "Milkshake" singer gave birth to the estranged couple's son on Tuesday, Nas revealed in an online video.
"My son is born today, so shout-out to my son, Knight," the 35-year-old Queens rapper said in the clip.
The new baby is the first child for Kelis, 29, while Nas has a teenage daughter named Destiny from a previous relationship.
Kelis filed for divorce from her husband on April 28, citing irreconcilable differences. The music stars tied the knot in Atlanta in 2005 after meeting three years earlier at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party thrown by Sean "Diddy" Combs.
The couple's split has often been nasty, with Kelis even poking fun at her soon-to-be ex-husband's alleged infidelity.
"This lovely day I would like to touch on cheaters. Super brief! Why be cowardly why not go after what you really want," she wrote last month on Twitter. "All the scum bag husbands and the less than impressive sluts unite! You can all go down in flames together…I am here to say the husband is way more at fault."
However, in his video birth announcement, Nas urged fans to play it safe when it comes to the tabloid world.
"Don't believe nothing you hear in the media," he said. "I love y'all. Don't listen to that bullsh--. I love y'all, that's why I'm here."
