Edith Fellows, Child Actress of 1930s, Dies at 88

LOS ANGELES – Edith Fellows, a child actress who was the subject of a famous 1936 custody case, has died. She was 88.

Her daughter, Kathy Fields Lander, tells the Los Angeles Times that Fellows died of natural causes Sunday at the Motion Picture & Television Fund retirement home in Los Angeles.

Fellows' mother abandoned her as an infant, and she was raised by her grandmother, who brought her to Hollywood. She made about 50 movies in the 1930s, '40s and '50s, including the 1936 film "Pennies from Heaven." She later turned to the stage and TV.

Disco Singer Loleatta Holloway Dead at 64

CHICAGO – Disco singer Loleatta Holloway, known for the 1980 hit "Love Sensation," has died.

Her manager, Ron Richardson, says Holloway died of heart failure Monday night at a suburban Chicago hospital. She was 64.

Holloway recorded several disco singles, including "Hit and Run" and "Runaway." But she's best known for "Love Sensation."

Her vocals were sampled by Black Box for the 1989 hit "Ride on Time" and by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch for the song "Good Vibrations" in 1991.

Longtime Blues Piano Player Pinetop Perkins Dies

Legendary Bluesman Pinetop Perkins Dead at 97

AUSTIN, Texas – The manager for Pinetop Perkins says the Grammy winner and one of the last old-school bluesmen has died at his home in Austin, Texas. He was 97.

Hugh Southard says Perkins woke up with chest pains and died of cardiac arrest on Monday.

Perkins played piano with an aggressive style and sang with a distinctive gravelly voice.

Perkins accompanied Sonny Boy Williamson on the popular King Biscuit Time radio show broadcast on KFFA in Helena, Ark., in the 1940s. He toured with Ike Turner in the 1950s and joined Muddy Waters' band in 1969.

Attorney Mark Geragos said Nate Dogg, whose real name was Nathaniel D. Hale, died Tuesday of complications from multiple strokes.

Legendary Jazz Drummer Joe Morello Dies at 82

IRVINGTON, N.J. – One of the most famous drummers in jazz music history has died.

Family members say Joe Morello died Saturday at his home in northern New Jersey. A cause of death was not immediately available.

Morello, who was 82, was best known for his work with the Dave Brubeck Quartet. He was a member of the group for more than 12 years and was featured on such jazz classics as "Take Five" and "Blue Rondo a la Turk."

Morello also played with many leading jazz musicians over the years, including pianist Marian McPartland's Hickory House Trio in the early '50s.
