NEW YORK — Scarlett Johansson is headed for the bright lights of New York City.
The 24-year-old actress will make her Broadway debut in a revival of playwright Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge, the show's organizers announced Monday.
Johansson will also star alongside Tony Award-winner Liev Schreiber in the drama, which is set in 1950s America.
Schreiber will portray a Brooklyn longshoreman who becomes obsessed with his 17-year-old orphaned niece, played by Johansson, after she falls in love with a newly arrived Italian immigrant.
Johansson is the latest Hollywood star to head for Broadway, following the likes of Jude law, Hugh Jackman, Daniel Craig, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Katie Holmes and most recently, Sienna Miller.
Previews for A View from the Bridge will begin Dec. 28, with the show beginning a limited 14-week run at the Cort Theatre on Jan. 24.
Last month, Johansson released an album with Pete Yorn titled Break Up. She next stars as the Black Widow in the highly-anticipated Iron Man sequel, due out next spring.
