There is one area of the business, which Young A feels a change is needed.
"I would segregate [the industry] so if you're not gansta, don't rap gansta-rap," he says. "Do what fits your criteria."
His music, a peppery blend of southern energy and gangster rap, is intended for everyone. "I'm trying to get to relate to everybody in the world," Young A explains. "I do music for everyone."
Which is certainly ambitious, but Young A's rapping just might have a little something that appeals to everyone. You never know until you try, right? He undoubtedly deserves respect for his efforts. "Self-motivation fuels me," Young A says, "Get that money."
He even has some advice for all the aspiring rappers out there:
"A lot of cats, they'll smile and kick it with you," Young A advises, "You gotta be straightforward with muthaf***ers. There's a lot of people who get screwed over in the game. When you first come out, you don't know."
His ambitions have no boundaries. "I want to establish my own company, make Young A a household name," he says, "And then when I do get on, a lot of cats that I see got a lot of potential."
"I represent the way people feel me... they look at me like I'm this angry cat, I'm angry at the world," Young A explains. "I just want people to know that I'm a nice cat, a cool cat. If I feel something ain't right, I say something about it."
