LOS ANGELES — Aaron Carter insists "there is nothing going on" between him and Karina Smirnoff, his pro partner on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.
"It is completely false," the 21-year-old Carter tells Us Weekly of the dating rumors surrounding the pair. "We are two people who like to be out and about and if it were true, you would have seen us out together already! And we would have been caught."
Smirnoff, 31, is also attempting to silence the dating buzz, particularly since it comes on the heels of her recent split with fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
"It's really funny," she told People after Monday's show. "The rumors are that we are hooking up but then we're not sexy enough on the dance floor [according to head judge Len Goodman]? Let me tell you, if that was the case, the dance would have been very raunchy, as Len wanted it to be."
Smirnoff also told the mag that she's been lucky to have Carter in the mix following her September breakup with Chmerkovskiy.
"Honestly the last few months have been beyond difficult," she admitted. "If Aaron wasn't by my side, kind of being there, a shoulder to lean on, I don't think it would've been possible to get through it. He reminds me that I do what I love—dancing. And he's always happy, always smiling, saying, 'Come on, girl! You can do this!' I tip my hat off to Aaron for being as strong as he is."
