Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson Biography

Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson

Name: Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson
Profession: Singer, Actress
Birth Date: March 27, 1975
Height: 5' 1"

Stacy Ferguson, better known by her stage name "Fergie," was born in Hacienda Heights, Calif. She is the daughter of Terri Jackson and Patrick Ferguson and has one sister, Dana, who is an actress. Fergie, who is of Irish, Scottish and Mexican descent, attended Mesa Robles Middle school and Glen A. Wilson High School.

Fergie started her showbiz career at the age of nine as the voice of Sally Brown in the television short, "It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown." She would then catch her first break by landing a regular gig on the television program "Kids Incorporated," in which she was a series regular from 1984-1989. On the show, Fergie starred alongside the likes of Jennifer Love Hewitt and displayed her singing talent with such songs as Whitney Houston's "One Moment In Time."

Joined by Stefanie Ridel and another "Kids Incorporated" alum, Renee Sands, Fergie would go on to form Wild Orchid, a teen pop group that released a pair of albums during the late 1990s. The group would disband in 2001 after completing a third album, which their label opted not to release. The disappointing experience would lead Fergie into a well-publicized crystal meth addiction.

In 2003, the Black Eyed Peas were recording their third album," Elephunk," when Fergie was invited to try out for a song called "Shut Up." She got the gig and went on to record five additional tracks on the album, which would turn into the band's breakout release and shoot Fergie and her fellow bandmates — will.iam, apl.de.ap and Taboo — into stardom.

After becoming central to the band's mainstream success, Fergie was soon offered a permanent position with the group. The new-look band would go on to achieve even greater success with the release of 2005's "Monkey Business," which featured such chart-topping tracks as "Don't Phunk With My Heart," "Don't Lie,” and “My Humps.”

With her popularity soaring, Fergie decided to step out on her own, releasing "The Dutchess" on Sept. 19, 2006. The album spawned six hits for Fergie, beginning with "London Bridge" and followed by the smash tracks "Fergalicious," "Glamorous," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Clumsy," and "Finally,” as she cemented her name in stardom.
