HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Beyoncé Knowles hit a hit note over the weekend as her new movie, "Obsessed," topped the weekend box office, according to studio estimates released Sunday.
The fatal attraction thriller debuted with $28.5 million in ticket sales, easily topping last week's No. 1, Zac Efron's "17 Again," which finished second with sales of $11.7 million.
"Fighting," which stars Channing Tatum and Terrence Howard, debuted with $11.4 million to finish third.
It was a less impressive debut for Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. as "The Soloist" opened at No. 4 with $9.7 million in sales.
"Obsessed" revolves around Derek Charles (Idris Elba), a successful asset manager who has just received a huge promotion and is blissfully happy in both his career and marriage to the beautiful Sharon (Knowles). But when temp worker Lisa (Ali Larter) starts stalking Derek, everything he's worked so hard for is suddenly placed in jeopardy.
