LOS ANGELES - Pop icon Janet Jackson will release her new, still-untitled album in February. The follow-up album to the 2006 entry, "20 Y.O." will be Jackson's debut on Island Def Jam.
The 41-year-old Jackson recently signed with WMA for representation in all areas. She is coming to the agency after a starring role in Tyler Perry's hit movie, "Why Did I Get Married?" Jackson will be repped by a team of agents, led by WMA president Dave Wirtschafter and Charles King, that will run across multiple divisions of the agency including film, touring, licensing and merchandising, television, theater, publishing and new technology.
"Janet is one of the most iconic female entertainers of our time," Wirtschafter said of the signing.
Jackson's new album will be produced by Def Jam CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid, rather than her boyfriend, Island Urban president Jermaine Dupri. Dupri is currently working on a new album for fellow superstar Mariah Carey.
"We're going to make it seem like we're in competition to see who's going to have the biggest album of the year," the producer and rapper told Billboard.
Jackson says she has plans to embark on a worldwide tour in support of her new album.
