HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jennifer Hudson will sing the national anthem at this year's Super Bowl, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday.
The performance will mark Hudson's first public appearance since her mother, brother and nephew were found slain last October in Chicago. The "American Idol" singer's estranged brother-in-law has been charged in the killings.
Following her Super Bowl performance, Hudson is scheduled to sing at the Grammys' MusiCares event in Los Angeles.
This year's Super Bowl will take place on Feb. 1 in Tampa, Fla.
