Watch last night's proposal
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — In a season filled with twists and turns, DeAnna Pappas saved her biggest shocker for the end.
The 26-year-old Kentucky native chose professional snowboarder Jesse Csincsak in last night's finale of ABC's "The Bachelorette," stunning 31-year-old account executive Jason Mesnick, who was left shocked as he prepared to get down on one knee and propose.
Csincsak immediately proposed to Pappas after discovering that he had captured her heart.
"I never in a million years thought it would end up this way," said Pappas, who now resides in Newnan, Ga. "I came here hoping to find true love and the man of my dreams. I am extremely confident about the man that I have chosen. I know it's the right one."
Csincsak, also 26, echoed his love as well, saying, "I'm so confident, and I know she's the one. "I am so in love with DeAnna."
"She's just that one person that I can't see myself without," added the Amherst, Ohio native. "I've never felt this way about anyone before. I really think she's my soulmate."
In a special that aired immediately after the finale, the couple announced that they have already set a May 2009 wedding date.
Last night's ending was particularly sweet for Pappas, who suffered through a painful, last-minute rejection by Brad Womack on last year's eleventh season of "The Bachelor."
"My connection to Jesse is so strong," Pappas said. "I feel like I cannot live without him."
