HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Oprah Winfrey's big secret is out: she has a long lost sister.
On Monday's broadcast of The Oprah Winfrey Show, the media mogul reveals she has a half-sister named Patricia, who was given up for adoption by Winfrey's mother, Vernita Lee, in 1963 when the star was just 9 years old.
"I had no idea my mother was even pregnant," Winfrey says. "I thought nothing could surprise me anymore, but let me tell you I was wrong."
The talk show host met Patricia for the first time on Thanksgiving Day when she visited their mother's home in Milwaukee.
"It was a Beloved moment," Winfrey recalls, referring to the 1998 film she starred in.
