HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — David Arquette has checked into rehab, less than three months after he and wife Courteney Cox separated.
According to TMZ, the 39-year-old star entered a live-in facility after spending New Year's Eve partying at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.
"He is in there for drinking and depression, not hard drugs. Rehab was inevitable," a source tells People magazine. "He is dealing with a broken heart. He can't handle all the changes in his life. All his inner demons came out."
Arquette and Cox separated in October after 11 years of marriage. During a recent interview on Howard Stern's satellite radio show, the actor admitted the breakup has taken a toll on him.
"I've been drinking a lot because I'm heartbroken," he told Stern. "It's really a personal, traumatic thing."
He added, "Everybody's worried and concerned about me. When I drink, I become a maniac."
