HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — They're back from the dead!
After signing off Twitter and Facebook by staging their "digital deaths," celebrities including Justin Timberlake, Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga have returned online after meeting their fund-raising goal of $1 million for Keep a Child Alive, a charity fighting HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.
"From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of the fans, friends and artists who stood together for this cause and saved real lives," said singer Alicia Keys, who is one of the founders of Keep a Child Alive and spearheaded the campaign. "I am humbled by the outpouring of support from everyone."
The campaign kicked off on World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, with the world's most followed celebrity Tweeters sacrificing their digital lives to help save millions of real lives affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.
