HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Emma Watson isn't afraid to lean on her Harry Potter co-stars when it comes to understanding the opposite sex.
"When I was on the set with Daniel [Radcliffe] and Rupert [Grint], it was normally me who went to the guys with the questions about guys because I don't pretend to understand the male gender," the currently single actress tells Parade magazine.
She adds, "I'm just like, 'What is going on here? What should I be doing? I don't understand.' So they've helped me out a bit and been like my protective big brothers."
In real life, the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I star possesses some of the same traits as her character Hermione Granger.
"I'm fiercely loyal," the 20-year-old star says. "I really empathize with people and I can't help but take care of them and protect them, sometimes in a kind of unhealthy way. I'm definitely a caretaker. I have to really pull myself back on the reins and say, 'Put yourself first. Love yourself first.' "
Watson got emotional when shooting wrapped on the film franchise that launched her career at age 9. Looking back, she admits it hasn't been easy growing up on the big screen.
"It's weird. It's kind of like your baby pictures being posted up around the world on a 20-foot screen," she explains. "It's cool in a way but also kind of slightly embarrassing."
"It makes me squirm a bit, to be honest," adds Watson. "It's funny, looking back, how different we all were. I had the bushy hair, chipmunk face, and big teeth going on, which wasn't a great look for me."
