HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Shia LaBeouf is opening up about his November arrest at a Chicago Walgreens, admitting he is still "embarrassed."
"That was complete and utter insanity," the 21-year-old actor tells Empire magazine. "I was an a--hole, and it was a mistake I'm still completely embarrassed about."
As for an explanation, LaBeouf says, "I was in the middle of a strange mind state, having just come off a three-month window of focus."
"I can't diminish what happened at all," he continues. "But I can say this: I'm not the first 21-year-old to be arrested for a misdemeanor. There are lessons in life I need to learn, and I'm learning all of them in front of the public."
The "Transformers" star says he's "still learning how to cope" with fame and says that he didn't get into showbiz for the "tons-of-chicks, binge-drinking bulls---." With the incident behind him, LaBeouf, who will next be seen in the eagerly-anticipated "Indiana Jones" sequel, says he will continue to focus on what he enjoys most.
"I feel like a better person when I'm working — I enjoy it more than anything else in my life," he says.
