HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Lauren Conrad has literally added a new title to her growing resume.
The 22-year-old star of "The Hills" has inked a three-book deal to scribe a series of young adult fiction, publisher HarperCollins announced Thursday.
Titled "L.A. Candy," the series will tell "the behind-the scenes story of a young girl who moves to L.A. and unexpectedly becomes the star of a reality television show," according to HarperCollins.
"I've always loved books that I could lose myself in, ones that would transport me to another place, but had characters I could relate to," Conrad said in a statement. "I'm so excited to have this opportunity to write books like that for other readers."
"I've never seen a new project generate noise like the instant buzz that swept through our offices around this deal," said HarperCollins Senior VP/Associate Publisher of Fiction Elise Howard.
While the series may sound strikingly similar to her MTV reality show, Conrad tells People readers shouldn't expect the same drama that plays out on "The Hills."
"I'm not trying to do a fictional story based on all my friends in my real life because their stories aren't really mine to tell," she tells the magazine. "Some of the characters may symbolize people in my life, but it is in no way calling anyone out."
The first book in the series is scheduled to hit shelves next summer.
