HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff have split, People magazine has confirmed.
"Karina has parted ways with her two-year relationship with Mario Lopez," a rep for Smirnoff tells the mag. "The relationship wasn't heading in the right direction."
The former "Saved by the Bell" star also confirmed the end of the couple's relationship.
"Karina and I have the utmost respect for each other," he said in a statement released through his rep. "She is a phenomenal and talented woman. I support her always and feel blessed to have her in my life."
Lopez, 34, and Smirnoff, 30, started dating in 2006 after meeting on the third season of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."
They have fought break-up rumors for some time, including earlier this year when reports began to surface that Smirnoff was hooking up with R&B singer Mario, who was her dance partner on the latest season of the hit reality show.
Smirnoff shot down the reports in April, telling Us Weekly, "You know, everybody goes through ups and downs in their relationships. That's kind of a given, and it's normal. But Mario and I are going strong."
