NEW YORK — One day after leading the New Orleans Saints to their first Super Bowl title, Drew Brees dropped by the Late Show with David Letterman.
The host admitted that he was disappointed to see his hometown Indianapolis Colts fall in the title game. But Letterman also said he was moved by Brees holding his young Son Baylen on the field after his team's 31-17 victory.
"When we saw you on TV with your son, it looked like you were both sort of just looking around, enjoying the experience. Is that what it was?" asked Letterman.
"That's exactly what it was — just trying to enjoy the moment," replied the Super Bowl MVP. "And you know, I'd been dreaming of that for a long time, even before he was born. Having the opportunity to win the Super Bowl and stand up on that during the trophy presentation and have him in my arms and just to be able to take it all in and I'm sitting here telling him the whole time just how much I love him and just telling him, 'You know, little boy, you just don't even know what you're experiencing right now.' "
Brees, who flew into New York after visiting Disney World earlier in the day, also commented on the wild scene back home in the Bayou.
"That's one of the things you love about New Orleans, we know how to throw a party, and doggone it, any excuse to do it, we're gonna do it," he said.
