HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Usher canceled a scheduled performance for Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party on Saturday night after his wife, Tameka Foster, reportedly experienced complications from a plastic surgery procedure.
According to E! News, Davis shocked guests at his annual star-studded event when he announced that the 30-year-old Usher and his mother had contacted him earlier by phone to say that he wouldn't make the event due to a "serious illness in the family."
Access Hollywood has since learned that Foster, 37, experienced complications from a plastic surgery procedure in Brazil and that a neurosurgeon is en route to treat her.
There have been several published reports that Foster died following the plastic surgery, but a source close to Usher denied those claims to E! News.
Usher and Foster were married in the fall of 2007. They welcomed their first child, Usher Raymond V, in November 2007, and a second son, Naviyd Ely Raymond, last December.
Foster also has three children from a previous relationship.
Usher has previously spoken out about the joys of fatherhood, including his desire to be a young dad.
"I'm so proud to be a father by the time I'm 30," he told People in August. "I'd hate to be 80 years old and not be able to run with my kids. I need to still be able to do flips when they're in high school!"
