SHREVEPORT, La — Two people in a pickup truck were killed Saturday when they crashed head-on into one of Trace Adkins' tour buses in Louisiana, the Associated Press reports.
Authorities said the truck crossed the center line of U.S. Highway 71 in Caddo Parrish and ran into the bus around 9:30 a.m. The 48-year-old country star was not on the bus involved in the collision, but five members of his band and crew were treated for minor injuries.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known, but a witness said the pickup truck was weaving in traffic.
"This is a real tragedy," Adkins said in a statement posted on his official Web site. "Two people have been killed and I don't even know their names. So out of respect for their families, I prefer not to comment too much at this time."
Adkins performed a scaled-down acoustic set at a joint show with Martina McBride Saturday night at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City. He said he would skip out on Sunday's show in Pensacola, Fla.
