SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Actor and television host Gary Collins has been formally charged with driving under the influence, according to The Associated Press.
The 70-year-old Collins was arrested on Jan. 31 in Santa Barbara, where authorities witnessed him driving a motor home erratically, according to a police report obtained by AP.
Collins was arrested after he failed a field sobriety test. He was later released on $25,000 bail.
A Santa Barbara district attorney told AP that Collins had a blood alcohol level of .29, which is more than three times the legal limit of .08.
This is the third time that Collins has faced DUI charges. He most recently pleaded no contest to DUI charges stemming from a October 2007 incident, in which he was sentenced to four days in jail.
If convicted on the latest charges, Collins could face up to 120 days in jail.
