HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Tristan Wilds has a new role outside the West Beverly classrooms.
The "90210" star has been cast in the World War II drama "Red Tails," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie is based on a true story about the 332nd Fighter Group, an elite all-black unit of escort pilots known as the Red Tails.
According to the trade publication, the 19-year-old Wilds will portray a flyboy nearly blinded over Nazi-occupied Italy who becomes the wingman of his friend and comrade.
The motion picture was written by John Ridley, while George Lucas is serving as executive producer.
Prior to landing his "90210" role, Wilds drew praise for his portrayal of Michael Lee on HBO's "The Wire."
His first movie role came in 2006's "Half Nelson." He also appeared last year in "The Secret Life of Bees."
