HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Taylor Swift is cleaning out her closet and making someone else's day in the process.
The 19-year-old country music star donated her high school prom dress to DonateMyDress.org, the first national campaign designed to encourage girls around the country to donate their prom and special occasion dresses to those in need. Swift, who won album of the year honors at Sunday night's Academy of Country Music Awards, said the decision was an easy one.
"I chose to give away this prom dress because I wore it once and loved it! To keep it around, hanging there all by itself and lonely in my closet, never to be worn again seemed a little pointless," Swift told People. "I want another girl somewhere to feel good in it and have a great prom night because of this dress."
Swift isn't alone in giving teen girls a night to remember in the future. Other young stars who have pitched in to help include Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Ashley Greene and Eva Amurri.
