NEW YORK — Taylor Momsen is refusing to get into a war of words with Tim Gunn after the fashion guru called her "sad" and "pathetic."
"I don't respond to that," the 17-year-old singer and actress told E! Wednesday night at the Material Girl fashion line launch at Macy's Herald Square in New York.
"We don't respond to name calling!" added a member of her camp.
Gunn previously told E! that he lost respect for Momsen while shooting his upcoming cameo appearance on Gossip Girl.
"What a diva!" he said of Momsen. "She was pathetic, she couldn't remember her lines, and she didn't even have that many. I thought to myself, 'Why are we all being held hostage by this brat?'
Gunn said his biggest problem with Momsen was the devotion she showed to her BlackBerry.
"I'd say, 'You know young lady, there are hundreds of thousands of girls who are just as attractive and even smarter than you. Why are you acting like this show is a huge burden on you?' " he wondered. "She was on her phone during every break, I wanted to tell her, 'If you weren't on your BlackBerry, you can retain this stuff.' ''
"I learned from teaching to stick with the topic, I don't get involved in character appraisals," added Gunn. "I'd just ask her, 'Do you want to share with me why you're always on your phone?' At one point the director leaned in and whispered to me, 'This is day in, day out, my life.' She annoyed the entire crew."
Momsen is the face of Material Girl, a clothing line developed by Madonna and her daughter, Lourdes.
