HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Slipknot and Disturbed will be the main headliners on this summer's Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour.
Rockstar Mayhem will travel to 30 Live Nation amphitheaters in North America during July and August. The tour is being produced by Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, his partner on the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour John Reese, CAA's Darryl Eaton, and Jason Garner, Live Nation's Chief Executive Officer of North American Music.
"Jason was real cool on this. [He] pretty much allowed us to use their facilities and create a show we wanted to present and the financial backing we needed to make the creative deals with artists that we were able to make," Lyman tells Billboard.com. "This all came together to bring in a show at a fair ticket price for the caliber of the bands that will be on the package."
With Ozzfest expected to cut back its run, Rockstar Mayhem will help fill the void for hard rock music at outdoor amphitheatres this summer.
Slipknot underwent many line-up changes before releasing their highly-successful debut album "Slipknot" in 1999. Their popularity soon rose and they have since released two more albums, "Iowa" and "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)." The band is expected to release a fourth album sometime this year.
Disturbed, meanwhile, is currently wrapping up their fourth album in Los Angeles. "Indestructible" is expected to be released in May.
