HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Shia LaBeouf was not at fault when he crashed his vehicle early Sunday morning in Hollywood, the Associated Press reports.
The 22-year-old actor's truck struck another vehicle around 2:24 a.m. and rolled over following the impact.
Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told AP on Tuesday that the other driver apparently ran a red light, and will be also be cited.
"He was not at fault," Whitmore said of the "Transformers" star, who was arrested for misdemeanor DUI.
LaBeouf was reportedly driving with his "Transformers" co-star Isabel Lucas when the crash occurred, a source tells Us Weekly magazine. He suffered a severe hand injury, while Lucas and the driver of the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries.
In a statement released Sunday evening, LaBeouf's rep, Melissa Kates, said the actor is "currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of 'Transformers 2' within one month."
According to Us, LaBeouf was watching live music at the Troubadour in West Hollywood earlier in the evening.
"He was dancing around and acting really crazy," a source told the magazine. "He kept doing shots of whiskey."
The "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" star opens up about his struggles with alcohol in the September issue of Details magazine, admitting he partied with his father.
"We would drink together and smoke together," he reveals. "And it's just a bad deal. It's not something that is conducive to being a role model — no iconic actors that I know of have problems like that. And I don't know how to do it like a gentleman. I don't know how to have one drink."
