HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Unlawful smoking charges were dismissed against actor Shia LaBeouf on Thursday, Access Hollywood confirms.
The 21-year-old "Transformers" star, who was cited for unlawful smoking outside the Burbank gift shop Skyblupink on Feb. 18, was ordered to pay a $500 fine in exchange for the charge being dropped against him.
Last month, a $1,000 bench warrant was issued in the case when both the star and his attorney failed to appear in court to address the misdemeanor charge. The warrant was recalled the following day when the actor's attorney appeared in court.
LaBeouf was also cited for misdemeanor trepassing last November after a late-night shopping spree to a Chicago Walgreens. That charge was later dropped. He recently told Empire magazine that he is still "embarrassed" by the incident.
"I was an a--hole, and it was a mistake I'm still completely embarrassed about," he said.
As for an explanation, LaBeouf said, "I was in the middle of a strange mind state, having just come off a three-month window of focus."
"I can't diminish what happened at all," he continued. "But I can say this: I'm not the first 21-year-old to be arrested for a misdemeanor. There are lessons in life I need to learn, and I'm learning all of them in front of the public."
LaBeouf will next be seen in the eagerly-anticipated "Indiana Jones" sequel.
