HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Actor Shia LaBeouf is having to do some damage control again.
A video surfaced yesterday on YouTube showing the "Indiana Jones" star in a slapping contest with a friend, during which LaBeouf provokes his pal to hit him by calling him a "f----t."
LaBeouf later apologized for the video, which has since been taken down from the Web site.
"The videotape that is currently being circulated is several years old and captures Shia playing a game among friends in which he uses a derogatory word toward a friend," a rep for the actor tells E! News. "He regrets having used the word in any capacity and is very embarrassed that this footage is being seen by anyone."
The YouTube video is the latest in a string of well-publicized incidents involving the 22-year-old star.
In April, LaBeouf had unlawful smoking charges dismissed against him. The "Transformers" star, who was cited for unlawful smoking outside the Burbank gift shop Skyblupink on Feb. 18, was ordered to pay a $500 fine in exchange for the charge being dropped against him.
He was also arrested last November at a Chicago Walgreens and charged with a misdemeanor count of trespassing. Those charges were also later dropped against him.
"I can't diminish what happened at all," LaBeouf told Empire magazine after his Walgreens arrest. "But I can say this: I'm not the first 21-year-old to be arrested for a misdemeanor. There are lessons in life I need to learn, and I'm learning all of them in front of the public."
