HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Samuel L. Jackson is about to follow in Salma Hayek's footsteps.
The veteran actor has signed a two-year deal with CBS Paramount Network TV in which he will develop and serve as an executive producer on series projects for the studio, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Like Hayek and her hit ABC series "Ugly Betty," Jackson, 59, says he too is open to making an occasional on-screen appearance in his productions, which will be developed through his Uppity Films.
"Samuel L. Jackson is not only a fan of television but a really astute historian who knows it well," CBS Paramount studio president David Stapf told the Reporter. "He knows wherein lies a good story, and he's going to be a fantastic producer who is interested in all the genres on television."
Jackson, who previously served as a producer on Spike TV's animated series "Afro Samurai," is a longtime fan of television and says he counts "CSI" among his favorites. He told the Reporter that he looks forward "to having as great an influence on other's lives as television has had on mine."
The "Pulp Fiction" star has several upcoming films about to hit the theaters, including "Lakeview Terrace," "The Spirit" and "Soul Men."
