HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ryan Reynolds says there's no getting around the fact that life is different now that he's married Scarlett Johansson.
"Things change when you get married in general," the 33-year-old actor tells GQ magazine. "But in terms of being a couple that's in a public situation and speculated about and all that nonsense, it's changed a little bit."
So how has all the scrutiny impacted the Green Lantern star?
"I'm a little more guarded, I think. I'm a little bit more wary of having my relationship turning into a soap opera," Reynolds says. "I've just unilaterally not addressed it. That's kind of been the fail-safe for me."
While he's a bit more protective these days, Reynolds denies that the couple is overly obsessed with privacy since they married in 2008.
"I think it's embellished upon," he explains. "It hasn't been some covert operation. I mean, certainly the wedding was, but I believe anyone should have the right to have a private wedding ceremony. I think if anything's sacred it should be that. But for the most part—I can only speak for me, as one-half of that relationship—I choose to remain as private as possible without being secretive."
As for whether he and Johansson will be welcoming a baby anytime soon, Reynolds says that is still a far-off thought.
"A few years down the road, having a family," he says. "That's years away at this point."
