HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Somebody apparently jumped the gun on Chris Brown's comeback.
On Tuesday, organizers for Michael Jackson's upcoming global tribute in Vienna released the first set of performers, with Brown's name prominently listed alongside the likes of Mary J. Blige and Akon. But a rep for the "Kiss Kiss" singer tells E! News that Brown hasn't signed on the dotted line.
"Chris is not confirmed to perform or participate in any capacity for this show," said the singer's publicist.
In order to perform, Brown would need court approval to head overseas after pleading guilty to assaulting Rihanna in February. He was formally sentenced last month to five years of probation and six months of community labor service.
While Brown's status remains in limbo, others slated to perform at the Sept. 26 event include Sister Sledge, Natalie Cole, Angela Bassett and the Germany-based boy band US. More performers are expected to added in the near future for the concert, which will feature some of Jackson's greatest hits.
The King of Pop died on June 25 at the age of 50.
