HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The daughter of actor Peter Falk has filed court papers seeking a conservatorship over her father's affairs due to his suffering from Alzheimer's disease, The Associated Press reports.
Catherine Falk filed the petition filed last Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, arguing that the Emmy-winning star no longer recognizes people. She notes that Falk recently had hip surgery and constantly needs to be cared for, AP says.
Catherine Falk is one of two adopted daughters from the actor's marriage to Alyce Mayo. The couple divorced in 1976 after 16 years of marriage.
The 81-year-old Faulk currently lives in Beverly Hills with his second wife, actress Shera Danese. They married in 1977 after Danese appeared as a guest star on Falk's iconic television series, "Columbo."
A hearing on the matter has been scheduled for late January.
