HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Miley Cyrus is being slammed for her racy new music video for the single "Who Owns My Heart."
Tim Winter, president of the Parents Television Council, has blasted the video, which opens with the 17-year-old lying on a bed in hot pants and a tank top.
"It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a sexualized video like this one." Winter tells TMZ. "It sends messages to her fan base that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point. Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fan base so rapidly."
"Who Owns My Heart" is the latest single off the teen star's Can't Be Tamed album. Cyrus also pushed the envelope in the video for the album's title track, a move she defended at the time on Q100's Bert Show.
"No one ever wants to see somebody grow up," she said. "It's like when Hilary Duff started growing up off the Disney Channel. Everyone thought she was anorexic and she did this and this. It's just because she grew up! She didn't look like a 12-year-old anymore."
