LOS ANGELES — Oprah Winfrey is being sued by a former flight attendant on her private jet who alleges she was fired after being accused of having sex during a flight.
In the suit filed on Friday, Corrine Gehrls, 39, claims that flight attendant Myron Gooch and Winfrey's goddaughter, Kirby Bumpus, made false and defamatory accusations that led to her dismissal, Reuters reports.
Gehrls alleges she was fired after the pair claimed she had sex with chief pilot Terry Pansing, 57, during a flight in June. She also claims that Winfrey and Bumpus were both asleep during the flight after taking sleeping pills.
Gehrls and Pansing were both fired even though they passed polygraph tests after the incident, the suit said.
Gehrls is seeking more than $75,000 in damages from Gooch, Bumpus and Harpo Inc., Winfrey's production company.
Bumpus is the daughter of Winfrey's close friend, Gayle King.
Winfrey has refused to comment on the lawsuit.
