CHICAGO — An early-morning bomb scare outside Oprah Winfrey's production building in Chicago has ended harmlessly.
Bomb and arson detectives have determined that the suspicious package discovered outside Harpo Studios was not an explosive device.
"Bomb and Arson [detectives] conducted remote diagnostics and rendered safe procedures without incident," a police spokeswoman told the Chicago Tribune.
Authorities were called to the scene around 6:20 a.m. after security discovered a dark backpack with wires hanging out of it in a flower bed near the studios.
The area around Winfrey's studio was then blocked off as bomb and arson detectives investigated.
Officials did not reveal what was inside the backpack, only saying that it was not a bomb.
