HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Oliver Stone is turning his attention to another American president.
Stone, who has made films about the assassination of John F. Kennedy and the presidency of Richard Nixon, is now ready to put the life of George W. Bush on the big screen.
According to Daily Variety, Stone has been quietly shopping a script for "Bush" — a film focusing on the life and presidency of George W. Bush.
Josh Brolin has been tabbed to play the president in the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The script was written by Stone's "Wall Street" co-writer Stanley Weiser and the movie would be produced by Moritz Borman and Jon Kilik.
Borman revealed that Weiser's script was finished before the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike and was ready to shoot.
Stone, 61, has won three Academy Awards during his film career. His first Oscar was for best adapted screenplay for "Midnight Express" in 1978. He also won Academy Awards for best director for "Platoon" and "Born on the Fourth of July."
Stone is said to be hopeful that he can begin production on "Bush" as early as spring in order to release the film by the fall election.
