HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — An attorney for Nikki Blonsky says the young star was an innocent victim in last month's airport brawl involving "America's Next Top Model" contestant Bianca Golden and her family.
"Nikki Blonsky was the victim of an unprovoked attack by the Goldens," said Michael Griffith, a lawyer for the Blonsky family, in an interview with Access Hollywood.
Blonsky told her attorney that the July 30 fight began as she was holding seats for her parents at Providenciales International Airport in Turks and Caicos. Upset that Blonsky was saving seats, Golden allegedly approached the actress and called her a "white b****" before unleashing four punches to the side of her head.
Blonsky said the fight quickly escalated from there, with her brother hopping into the action as Golden's mother, Elaine, allegedly started to choke the "Hairspray" star.
It was then that Blonsky's father, Carl, attempted to break up the fight.
Griffith told Access that the Blonsky family has 13 independent witnesses to the attack.
Blonsky and Golden, both 19, were arrested on charges of actual bodily harm following the melee. They were later released after each posting a $6,000 bail.
Blonsky's father was released from jail yesterday after pleading not guilty to grievous bodily harm. He faces a maximum punishment of five years and is due back in court on Dec. 1.
A rep for the "ANTM" star declined comment to Access due to the ongoing investigation.
