HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — It's official: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will replace Megan Fox in the Transformers franchise.
The casting news was confirmed late Wednesday on director Michael Bay's official Web site.
"I would like for all you S4TE fans to welcome Rosie Huntington Whiteley to the world of Transformers," read the message. "As some of you might know, she's the new female lead in Transformers 3."
This will mark the acting debut for the Victoria's Secret model, who already has a history with Bay. The pair worked together in 2009 on the Victoria's Secret "A Thousand Fantasies" ad helmed by Bay.
Huntington-Whiteley, 23, has been modeling since 2003. In addition to Victoria's Secret, she has been featured in campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch, Clinique, DKNY and Ralph Lauren, among others.
Deadline Hollywood reported last week that the search for Fox's replacement had been narrowed to three candidates: Huntington-Whiteley, actress and former fashion model Sarah Wright and Sports Illustrated cover girl Brooklyn Decker.
Last month, Fox claimed she left the franchise on her own accord, but there have been reports her contract wasn't renewed after she famously dissed Bay in the media.
Transformers 3 has already begun shooting in Los Angeles. The film is slated to hit theaters next summer.
